This little guy has a natural faux hawk. Never placed with gel, his hair perfectly places itself right up in the middle. We had to reschedule his session one time due to illness. Mom calls and says we need to hurry, if his hair grows any longer, his faux hawk might fall! We really wanted to capture him at this stage and luckily it all worked out. A beautiful baby in a magical setting....

What fun we had on our photo session. I am thankful for lighthearted fun parents... when we talked about getting thier toes wet, the girls were chin deep in the water within minutes! First dry and pretty and then wet and fun....

I just fell in love with this sweet little girl. When we first met she held her hands out and we were friends! What a dream to photograph. Just look at her eyes and curls! Yes those are her real eyes, I did not saturate them. Thanks to her super sweet parents for driving out to the orchard for her photo session!
Summer is here in AZ! The high was 105 the day of this session. Surprisingly it wasn't too bad by the afternoon and in the shade. Being from Texas, this family appreciated the Dry Heat!

March Madness.... ~ Scottsdale Child Photographer ~

Whew! March has been a whirlwind! Glad it is almost April. I love March, it is my favorite month and the month I got married in. The weather is beautiful in March and always busy for photo sessions since it is perfect for outdoor sessions. This year, I shot the Innovation 2011 conference in Las Vegas (usually it is local), had lots of great photo sessions, the kids had 2 weeks off school for spring break, we had one night family escape of fun to Tucson, one fabulous 10 year anniversary trip with my hubby, a major flood in our house has left my home office in shambles, and somewhere mixed in to the madness, I got some strange illness that had me at the doc 2 times. I am looking forward to our normal routines in April. I am happy my personal March Madness is winding down! I am so thankful for all the new families I have met this month for photo sessions and visiting with old ones. I am lucky to have so many fabulous clients with the cutest kids! I hoping to bombard the blog soon with lots of images of new babies, families, and kids as I try to catch up! I was lucky to catch up with an old friend who came for a session with his family and thankful for their patience in waiting to see these....

Did you know that time stands still inside of a black hole? My six year old told me this. Wish I could go there and let time stand still for a bit and keep my little ones 2,4, & 6 for just a little longer! Here he is the day of school pictures. Of course I had to take some of my own that morning! And he also has a black hole in his mouth since he lost a top tooth! I told him to keep that tooth in but it wiggled its way out!

It is the first week that everyone here is back in school. And I am back to work! The beginning of the year is such a refreshing time of year. As a photographer, my busy season is over and now I can catch up. There are so many things I am looking forward to this year - especially a much needed update to my website. I love this week before Christmas. Sessions and editing are done. Just a few last minute deliveries. The kids are off of school. It inevitable that someone is sick but there is still lots of time for fun!

So Loved... This little guy has the most attentive loving parents. I was lucky to actually get a shot of him by himself!
I am sure mom would be happy to give a big shout out to Dr. Harvey Karp! There has been lots of swaddling, shhhhing, and swinging going on in this house. These parents have perfected the 5 s's which have really helped this little guy's colic. If you're pregnant or have a newborn check out Dr. Karp's book The Happiest Baby on the Block. It really helped me out when my baby had colic.

Can you imagine trying for years, choosing to adopt, getting through the whole adoption process, bonding with your new sweet boy, feeling complete... and boom your pregnant! A few weeks ago we were at the dentist and she said "he has 2 loose teeth". My heart sank, I took a deep breath, smiled, and said "how exciting!". He surely is not big enough to be losing teeth! I look at him and yes, he is 5 and headed to Kindergarten. There is so much I want to do with him before he gets too big! They are all growing so fast!

Home in time - Phoenix Newborn Photographer

This little guy's daddy made it home just in time all the way from Kuwait for his birth. Can you imagine 130 degrees and no air conditioner in the bathroom? Burn your bum when you go! Anyway, Mommy and Daddy welcomed their new baby boy 15 days ago. Here he is so sweet..

Summer is coming! - Gilbert Child Photographer

The sun is warm and the splash pads are turned on! Soon it will be 100 degrees! I am now scheduling summer sessions. I am only scheduling a limited number of sessions during the summer while the boys are off school. Please contact me now if you are interested in a photo session this summer. If you are pregnant and due in the summer we will schedule your newborn session based on your due date.

High Tech Baby

Mom has an awesome app for her iPhone to track baby's feedings, changes, and sleeping, The app even runs a time during nap time so you know how long the baby has been sleeping.

Take a look at the precious bundle who was welcomed to the world just 12 days before this shoot. He is a sweetie and mom is very proud!

Out for his daily sunbath... Noon in the desert, not the ideal light for photos but these turned out great...

I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful family from Texas last weekend! These parents amazed me with their positive energy. Traveling with 3 children, 2 of which have special needs, and showing up to their photo session ready to play and explore the desert. Kudos to mom who knows exactly what makes each of her children laugh and smile!

AMOMI Photo Day

I had the pleasure of meeting these beautiful mommies and precious babies at AMOMI.

Thanks to AMOMI Pregnancy and Wellness Spa for hosting a special photo event with Baby Shots Photography for thier patients. AMOMI is a very special place where woman and moms-to-be can be pampered by therapists who are specially trained to work with pregnant moms. They also provide medical care for pregnant moms with medical complications and high risk pregnancies. Dr. Francois and Dr. Harris are awesome. Their patients are well taken care of physically and emotionally. AMOMI has a special place in my heart as I can relate to their patients after having 3 of my own high risk pregnancies. Dr. Francois took great care of me, kept me sane, and delivered my 3 healthy babies.

"Weather the Storm"

Remember a week ago when sunny AZ turned cold and raining? This is when Intesource hosted another successful Innovation Conference. Ironically, the title this year was "Weather the Storm". Attendees arrived from all over the country, expecting sunshine and beautiful weather. They may have been disappointed in the weather but they were sure impressed by the conference.
I was challenged with very low light and no flash during the speeches, so I took full advantage of my 5d mark II and turned the iso up to 6400 at times (only other photographers can relate to the nail biting experience of turning the iso this high). Here are some photos.

Miss "O"

She's smart and aware and she knows exactly were her momma is. We tackled just a little bit of stranger anxiety (Miss "O" forgot we've met several times before!) and got some awesome shots. Momma stayed close and Miss "O" had fun!

We are very blessed this year with a wonderful family and fun with our children! I wish you the merriest from our family to yours!
Of course a few pictures...
I love our tree this year, decked out with handmade ornaments from preschool. The boys loved decorating this year. And Abbie loved un-decorating.

Snow!

Lots of Christmas activities at home... this was a favorite. This gingerbread house now sits on the shelf as a decoration but somehow the candies have gone missing!
